The book of Proverbs is from the portion of the Bible known as wisdom literature and deals with the problems of life each of us face, regardless of age. This year we will learn what Wisdom teaches about women, work, speech, raising children, friendships, anger, depression, and other topics that are relevant to our lives.

Throughout the pages of Proverbs we will see Jesus Christ, Who became for us Wisdom from God (I Corinthians 1:30). In Him are all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge Colossians 2:3

The purpose of Proverbs is to give wisdom and understanding so we will find true blessedness in life and escape the snares and pitfalls of sin. The key verse is Proverbs 9:10, "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding."

Your homework will help sharpen your understanding of the Bible, and it is a ministry to others as you share your answers in your small group. Prayerfully think through each answer with the expectation of sharing with others what God has taught you.

1. Read I Kings 4:29-34 and 2 Chronicles 9:1-8. Give some details about Solomon, the writer of Proverbs.
